Dr. Mark Fletcher

Mark is responsible for all water and flood risk related business activity across Arup and has advised at a regional, national and trans-national level. He has delivered key note speeches at Stockholm World Water Week, International Water Week in Amsterdam and at WATEC in Israel.

He was Project Director for the BCIA Award Winning Bradford City Park. He also won the Engineering Council Natural Environment Award in 1999 for a project on the River Derwent in Yorkshire.

In 2003, Mark was appointed by the RAEng as Visiting Professor in Engineering Design for Sustainable Development until 2008. He was also appointed as Honorary Visiting Professor to Bradford University. In 2014 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Bradford University for his work promoting sustainable water management.

Mark was on the Water Security Panel at the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). He is currently AMP5/6 Framework Director for Yorkshire Water engaged in delivery of their capital programme.

His international experience includes sustainable water management, reservoir and flood management in Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Uzbekistan, Botswana, South Africa, Israel, Poland and the Ukraine. He is also a Board Director of the Water Industry Forum, a not-for-profit industry body promoting the water sector across the UK. He is on the Policy Group for the Alliance of Global Water Adaptation (AGWA).
