Ganesh Pangare

Asia-Pacific, International Water Association (IWA)

Ganesh Pangare is the Regional Director, Asia -Pacific of the International Water Association – the international network of water professional with approximately 10,000 members in 130 countries.Ganesh has over 26 years of experience in the water and development sector. He has worked in the Americas, Africa and Asia at field level, with governments and international organisations. He is well known for his work on Transboundary Water Governance, Water sector reforms both urban and rural, Watershed development, Water-Energy- Food Nexus and in facilitating Multi-stakeholder Dialogues.

Ganesh is a fellow of the London-based Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) International Programme, the Ashoka Innovators for the Public Program based in Washington, and the East-West Centre, Hawaii.

Prior to joining IWA , Ganesh was the Head of the Ecosystem and Livelihoods Group and the Head of the Water Programme of the IUCN Asia Regional Office. Before that he was Associate Coordinator at the International Secretariat of the Water Dialogues, United Kingdom and served as Technical Director, World Water Institute, CEO of IndianPIM, faculty member of Institute of Rural Management, Executive Director of INREM.

Ganesh has published more than 12 books on water related issues and has articles published in a wide range of distinguished journals and magazines. He has been quoted in Time magazine, written for Nature, and has publications with IFPRI, ADB and other international organisations, Ganesh loves the outdoors, is a certified scuba diver and amateur photographer capturing wildlife and human interest. His development images have been published in various international magazines and books.
