International Solar Energy Consultant

Dr. Raed Sherif is a solar veteran with over 25 years of experience in both PV and CSP, working in the USA and in the Middle East/North Africa. As an international solar energy consultant, he led the development and deployment of the first utility-scale solar PV project in Kuwait Oil Company. Prior to that, he was the VP of international business of a US-based CSP Power Tower company, which commissioned the first CSP project in India. Raed is one of the pioneers of concentrating PV technology. He was the GM of the CPV division at Boeing-Spectrolab, overseeing the development and commercialization of high-efficiency, robust concentrator cell receivers. Raed was a team member of the Boeing-NREL team that developed the world’s first Multijunction solar cell that surpassed 40% efficiency, recognized as one of the top 100 scientific accomplishments in all fields of science in 2007.

Raed has 30 issued patents in addition to publication of numerous technical articles. He received a Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and B.Sc. with Highest Honors from Alexandria University.
